
2016 Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame Class Revealed
The latest class of inductees into the University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame was announced Wednesday night.
This year’s class includes three football players, an All-American basketball player, an accomplished swimmer, a rodeo champion, the “Voice of the Cowboys” and a championship football team.
The former gridiron standouts are Jerry Durling (1965-66), Aaron Kyle (1972-75) and John Watts (1954-56).
Hanna Zavecz is the hoopster. She led the Cowgirls to the WNIT title in 2007 and an NCAA tournament appearance in 2008.
Frank Shepperson was a standout rodeo competitor from 1961-64.
Lynn Stetson excelled in the pool from 1980-83.
In the special achievement category, the “Voice of the Cowboys” Dave Walsh will be inducted. He’s been calling Cowboy games since 1984.
Finally, the 1976 Western Athletic Conference co-Champion football team is part of this year’s group.
The 24th class will be inducted in ceremonies on September 2, 2016.
