March Madness

Walking through Laramie this week it will feel still, quiet, and empty; this is largely due to the fact that many people are out of town for spring break. For some, this is a good thing, you can now appreciate the peace and quiet for a week. For others, this is sad for one of two reasons: 1- all the noisy people will be back in a week or 2- everyone is away at some glorious spring break destination, and you are stuck here in Laramie. If the second option applies to you, cheer up, it just so happens that I believe the best time to plan a spring break, is while everyone is gone at spring break- who cares if the next spring break is a full year away, that just gives you more time to prepare to go to one of these great spring break locations!

Most years, March would have begun a day ago. This year however, leap year set it back, so after an additional 24 hours, we are now in the glorious month of madness, solstice and clovers. Before we get further into this month, let's take a look at some of the events, festivities and famous birthdays that set this month apart.

In honor of the newly inducted members of the University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame, we will provide the seven inductees over a course of seven days. Day 7: 1986-1987 Men's Basketball Team Twenty-five seasons ago, a Cowboy basketball team put together one of the greatest runs in Wyoming history, reaching the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament...

Barack Obama didn't take a whole lot of risks when filling out his NCAA Tournament brackets. The President has all four number one seeds - Duke, Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Kansas - advancing to the Final Four, with Kansas winning it all.

It is indeed time for March Madness which means plenty of basketball for everyone to enjoy.  Of course it also means plenty of cheerleaders which I'm sure half of the population probably enjoys.  So, it is for that demographic I give you plenty of NCAA cheerleaders to savor...
