Wyoming Cowboy Football Brings in Four New Players

University of Wyoming head football coach Dave Christensen announced the signing of three junior-college players to national letters of intent on Wednesday, which was the first day mid-year, junior-college transfers could sign letters of intent. The three new Cowboys are Malkaam Muhammad a linebacker from Iowa Western Community College, Jesse Sampson, a safety from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA and Jordan Stanton, a linebacker from Los Angeles Pierce College of California. The three will all join the Cowboy Football program for the 2013 spring semester.

Wyoming Cowboy Luke Ruff Earns Academic All-America Honor

University of Wyoming senior free safety Luke Ruff received one of the highest academic honors a college student-athlete can achieve by being named on Thursday to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Football First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the first time in Ruff’s career that he has earned First Team Academic All-America honors. He is the first Wyoming Cowboy to earn the honor since Trenton Franz in 2004.

Nick Carlson and Mike Purcell Lead Cowboy Football Post-Season Honors

Senior Center Nick Carlson and Senior Defensive Tackle Mike Purcell earned First-Team All-Conference recognition Tuesday, as the Mountain West announced its all-conference teams and individual awards for the 2012 season. A total of seven Wyoming Cowboys earned accolades for their performance on the gridiron this past season.

Wyoming Ends Season with 42-28 Loss to SDSU [PHOTOS]

The Wyoming Cowboys were shut out in the second half and lost to San Diego State, 42-28, in their last game of the season on Saturday in Laramie. The Aztecs clinched at least a share of the Mountain West championship with the win.

Two Wyoming Cowboys Earn MW Player of the Week Honors

Sophomore Quarterback Brett Smith and Junior Cornerback Marqueston Huff were tabbed Mountain West Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in the Mountain West, as announced by the conference office Monday. Smith threw for a career-high 412 yards and completed three touchdown passes, while Huff registered seven tackles and forced a key fumble in Wyoming's 28-23 win at UNLV last Saturday. It was the Cowboys third straight victory.

Brett Smith Leads Cowboys Past UNLV, 28-23

Brett Smith threw for a new career-high 412 passing yards and three touchdowns, and the Wyoming Cowboys posted their third straight win, 28-23, over UNLV in Las Vegas on Saturday. UW racked up 381 total yards in the first half and held off a late Rebels rally.

Wyoming’s Brett Smith Nominated in Two Fan Voting Weekly Awards

After he threw for a career-high 374 yards, accounted for 396 yards in total offense and passed for four touchdowns, Wyoming Cowboy Sophomore QB Brett Smith is up for two honors in which fan voting determines the winner. Smith was named one of the Manning Award "Stars of the Week" and is also a candidate for the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas MW Player of the Week honor.

The Wyoming Cowboys notched back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 28-23 win over New Mexico on Saturday. Brett Smith passed for a career-best 374 yards and threw four touchdowns to get the Pokes their first win in Albuquerque since 2006.
