CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A national adventure racing company is working with the state of Wyoming to stage an annual race centered in Casper.

Michael Spiller, with Rev3 Adventure, said he expects the race will draw top teams from around the United States and possibly elsewhere in the world. The race will feature running, paddling, mountain biking and other events. There will also be events for families.

Governor Mead said Monday that Casper will host the annual “Wyoming Tough Adventure Race” next summer. Spiller said the race will include challenges to highlight the local surroundings, as well as the state’s history.

The first race of the event is set to run July 18th-21st of 2013, and will begin in southeast Wyoming and end in Casper. The race will have new start locations each year, and end in Casper with a weekend of different events.

Spiller says in 2013, the Adventure Festival in Casper will include a glowstick 5k night race on July 19th, an urban challenge on July 20th, and a family adventure race on the 21st of July.
