Wyoming is much more accommodating than other states where arrangements for a big cycling race are concerned. WYDOT is a sponsor of the event and Wyoming Highway Patrol along with the Ryan Park and Centennial Volunteer Fire Departments contribute time and man power to make conditions as safe as possible for competing cyclists at no charge to the organization. Local businesses have stepped up to support Laramie Bike Net in preparation for the Dead Dog Classic June 25th and 26th. All that remains is the need for volunteers.

There will be training sessions for volunteers Tuesday and Wednesday June 21st and 22ndat Trihydro. Some activities you could be involved in as a volunteer include:

Cyclists on City Streets
loading...
  • handing out registration packets at the Laramie Train Depot Museum
  • filling water bottles . . . lots of water bottles
  • manning a feed station (giving water to passing cyclists), there are three feed stations along the course of the Road Race from Albany to Centennial and each one needs a sizable group to make certain that water is available to all
  • driving lead or follow, cars in the lead use flashers to warn motorists and follow cars contain spare wheels so no one has to repair a flat during the race
  • controlling traffic (vehicular and pedestrian)
  • controlling parking
