The time has come for Spring cleaning at Greenhill Cemetery and the City of Laramie wants to inform the public that during the week of April 8th  due to a city ordinance they will be removing any items that do not meet the cemetery rules and regulations.

Maintenance concerns imply that items such as loose potted plants, wreaths, ornaments and decorations and other items will be removed.  Items placed on plots tend to have sentimental value and the City wants to make sure plenty of time is set aside for people to remove those items so general maintenance and upkeep can be conducted.

The Greenhill Cemetery Sexton/Account Clerk office is open during week days from 8 am- 12pm for those who have items or have any questions about the Spring cleaning.

(LMC 13.64.020) Cemetery Rules and Regulations state:

"Cut flowers and potted plants, wreaths and blankets shall not be allowed on grave lawns longer than three days, except during the period from December 1 and March, and for seven (7) days following Memorial Day. If these items are not removed by the owner within the above times, the Cemetery staff shall remove all items. Owners shall be responsible for their own vases and containers. Flowers, plants, small statues, knick knacks or wreaths may be left indefinitely on plots if placed upon permanent and substantial foundation or base which shall be a part of the monument and shall be flush with the ground level and extend at least four (4) inches beyond the widest point of all sides of the flowers, small statues, knick knacks, plants, wreaths, or vases in place on such foundation."
