The University of Wyoming Athletics Department announced Friday that head volleyball coach Carrie Yerty has resigned her position effective immediately.

During her five seasons as head coach at Wyoming from 2008-12, Yerty compiled an 82-70 (.539) overall record and was 31-47 (.397) in Mountain West Conference play.

“The program is well equipped to continue the athletic and academic excellence it’s achieved the last five years,” said Yerty.  “It’s been an honor working with such fine young women and I wish the program continued success.”

“We wish Carrie and her family all the best in the future,” said University of Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman.  “It is important that the young women in our volleyball program know that we will immediately begin a national search for our next head coach.”

Prior to coming to Wyoming, Yerty was the head volleyball coach at the University of Memphis for 12 seasons from 1996-2007.  At Memphis, she posted a 233-174 (.572) record.  Her all-time NCAA Division I head-coaching record stands at 315-244 (.564).
