Wesley Kempton

An extraordinarily proud New England native, I was born in Northern Vermont and raised in a small border town called Franklin which boasts more cows than people and and exceptional views of foliage and Canada. At the encouragement of my father (an alum), I came to Laramie in 2007 hoping to become a Sports Journalist but quickly changed my mind and decided that I preferred talking over writing.  Thus, I graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2011 with a degree in Communication. During my years at the University of Wyoming, I played a semi-mediocre role in the long-awaited rebirth of the UW Student Radio Station, serving as the station's first Sports Director and hosting a morning sports-talk show called 'Sorry To Wake You.' Frequently heard but rarely seen, I have been the Public Address Announcer for almost every sports team at the University of Wyoming and have announced a number of miscellaneous events (sports and otherwise) throughout the Laramie and UW community. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Loryn and my dog June.  I enjoy playing almost any sport the Laramie weather allows, spontaneous trivia competitions and all music that sounds good.  I fight regularly to defend the honor of the Boston Red Sox; I cheer for the San Antonio Spurs almost entirely because of my admiration for David Robinson; my favorite sports writers are John Feinstein and Rick Reilly; my favorite band is Barenaked Ladies.

MWC Commissioner Craig Thompson Sees Changes Coming [AUDIO]

In recent years, it seems that the scope of college athletics has changed like never before; long-existing rivalries have ended as teams have jumped to new conferences and the money-machine that is college football has affirmed its position as the dominant force in college sports.

Wyoming Senators Oppose Federal Fracking Regulation

In recent years, perhaps nothing in the world of natural resources has been more controversial than the debate over hydraulic fracturing or "fracking." The national debate has been especially significant in Wyoming, where contaminated groundwater near Pavillion was linked to chemicals used in fracking.

What’s the Bigger Event – High School or College Graduation? – Survey of the Day

Graduation is a significant and momentous occasion in life. It is a time to be recognized for years of hard work and personal growth. As a kid, I remember my Kindergarten teacher holding a "graduation" ceremony, giving us certificates to recognize our successful journey to first grade. That graduation might have been too early in life to count as a real graduation ceremony, but many of us can easily recall elementary school, middle school, high school and college graduations throughout our years of education.

New Airline Lands in Denver

When it comes to airports in the state of Wyoming, Laramie is actually pretty well off. With free parking, daily flights to Denver and an estimated 10,000 passengers travelling through Laramie Regional Airport yearly, there are a lot of reasons to fly out of Laramie. Perhaps the most significant of those perks to fly through Laramie however, might be those daily flights to Denver because of the connecting flights that can made in Denver. You might not know that Denver International Airport is the 5th busiest airport in the country and the 11th busiest airport in the world, and beginning tomorrow, DIA will get just a little bit busier.
