Following a week of landmarks, Wyoming outside hitter Jodi Purdy has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played from Oct. 3-9. The Cowgirls went 2-0 over that span with wins over Northern Colorado and No. 23 Colorado State. During the CSU match Purdy recorded her 1,000th career kill and set a new career-high for digs with 21 as the Cowgirls beat CSU for the first time since 1997.

Purdy joined David Settle and Jake Anfinson on Monday's Sportsline Live to relive Saturday's big win over Colorado State. Listen below to hear the junior discuss what was said between the second and third sets of the CSU match, if she's thought about taking over Wyoming's record for career kills, and what's next for the Cowgirls volleyball team.

We came into the locker room between games and really evaluated what it was we needed to work on. We decided we needed to pick up our communication on the court. Our strength is definitely our passion and our excitement on the court. We looked at each other and said, 'You know what, this is a good team and no one expects us to win and we have nothing to lose. Let's just lay it all out there.'

We had a ton of people step up the other night and it was a total team effort. We just took it one point at a time, one game at a time and once the fifth game rolled around we just looked at each other and were like, 'We can do this!' And we did.

For the week, Purdy averaged 3.44 kills, 1.22 blocks and 4.33 digs per set, while hitting .220. She averaged 4.28 points per set over nine total sets. Purdy earned the Player of the Week honor with San Diego State outside hitter Raegan Shelton.

Wyoming (13-7, 3-2) will host two conference games this week. TCU (16-3, 3-2) will take on the Cowgirls on Thursday while New Mexico (10-7, 3-2) will be in town on Saturday. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex.
