GLENROCK, Wyo. (AP) — Converse County authorities are saying little about an arrest that ended an Amber Alert for a two-year-old Glenrock girl over the weekend. Glenrock Police Chief Tom Sweet told the Associated Press  that the girl was found alive in a neighbor’s Jeep that had been reported stolen. He says one person was arrested, but declined to identify the person or describe the charges.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Eastern Shoshone Tribe has a judge’s permission to challenge the Northern Arapaho Tribe’s plan to kill bald eagles on the reservation they share in central Wyoming. In March, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued the Northern Arapaho Tribe the nation’s first permit allowing the killing of bald eagles for religious purposes.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Gov. Matt Mead is opposing plans approved by a legislative subcommittee to build a new state office building and renovate the state Capitol in Cheyenne. The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the new $80 million office building would be near the Capitol. Mead says now’s not the time to build a new office building while the state faces budget cuts due to low prices for natural gas and falling state revenues.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The AAA motor club predicts about 1.6 percent more residents in mountain states will take trips this Memorial Day weekend compared with last year. The AAA survey covers Wyoming and seven other states. The travel group’s forecast shows the average mountain states family of four will spend $652 over the weekend and travel about 677 miles. Nationwide, 34 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles during the final weekend in May.
