In honor of the newly inducted members of the University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame, we will provide the seven inductees over a course of seven days.

Day 5: Scott Usher, Swimming, 2002-2005

Hailing from Grand Island, Nebraska, Scott Usher holds the distinction of being the first ever Wyoming swimmer to compete in the Olympic games, finishing seventh in the 200 meter breaststroke in the 2004 games.

Usher's Wyoming career began exceptionally, with a win in the 200 breaststroke and fifth place finish in the 100 breaststroke in the 2002 Mountain West Conference championship.  Improving as a Sophomore, Usher won both events and went on to a sixth place finish in the NCAA Championships for the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:57.05, where he was selected as an All-American.  The same year, Usher earned Honorable Mention All-America for a 15th place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Championship.

In 2004, Usher again won the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke events in the MWC championships, earning MWC Swimmer of the Year honors.  As a junior, Usher again enjoyed NCAA success, again earning two All-American honors by finishing second in the 200 meter breaststroke event and third in the 100 meter.

For his senior year, Usher won his fourth MWC 200 yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:57.51, and also finished second in the conference championship for the 100 yard breaststroke event.  Following the 2005 MWC championships, Usher was given the MWC's Senior Recognition Award.  He then went on to win his fourth All-American honor, finishing fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke event.

In his career, Usher was a six time conference champion, three time recipient of MWC Swimmer of the Week honors, and winner of 35 dual meet breaststroke events while swimming for Wyoming, finishing second place only once in his 36 career events.  Usher continues to hold the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke records for Corbett Pool, the University of Wyoming, the Mountain West Conference and the Mountain West Conference Championships.
