A U.S. House committee has unanimously passed a measure that would lift restrictions on canoes, rafts, kayaks and other hand-propelled vessels in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.
Grand Teton and Yellowstone national park officials say they were crowded over the past year, despite smaller staffs, decreased services and a government shutdown.
The Interior Department has missed a deadline to buy state land located within the boundaries of Grand Teton National Park but state and federal officials say they're still optimistic about reaching a deal to swap land instead.
