UNDATED (AP) — Make it a 12-game winning streak and a seven-game lead for the AL Central Division-leading Detroit Tigers. They finished a four-game sweep in Cleveland by routing the Tribe 12-3 for Max Scherzer's 17th victory in 18 decisions. He is baseball's first 17-game winner.

Scherzer held the Indians to two runs on four hits in his seven innings. Miguel Cabrera drove in three runs. Prince Fielder had a pair of doubles and drove in two. The Tigers broke this one open early, scoring six runs in the third inning.

In other AL action:

— Kansas City downed Boston 5-1. Bruce Chen and Luke Hochevar (HOH'-chay-vur) combined on a seven-hitter. Billy Butler and Justin Maxwell homered. The Royals have won for the 16th time in 20 games since the All-Star break.

In the NL:

— Tim Lincecum (LINZ'-ih-kuhm) pitched another gem, allowing only one hit over eight shutout innings and leading the San Francisco Giants past the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 at AT&T Park. Lincecum, who threw his first career no-hitter on July 13 at San Diego, allowed just a double to Juan Francisco leading off the third inning. He improved to 6-11. Brandon Belt's three-run homer in the first inning was all the offense the Giants needed.

— The Pittsburgh Pirates have the best record in baseball with 70 wins and just 44 defeats. The most recent win came Thursday when they beat the Marlins in 10 innings, 5-4. Russell Martin's pinch-hit single with two outs in the 10th lifted the Pirates to their fifth straight win. The game-ending hit was Martin's fourth game-ending hit at PNC Park this year for the NL Central leaders.

— Dillon Gee scattered eight hits over 7 2/3 innings to lead the Mets to a 2-1 win over Colorado. The victory gave New York the first three-game sweep of the Rockies since 2008. Colorado equaled the worst road trip in franchise history with a 1-9 record.

— The NL West-leading L.A. Dodgers beat St. Louis 5-1. A.J. Ellis got the big hit, a three-run home run. The Dodgers lead Arizona by five and a-half games in their division.

— Ethan Martin earned his first major league win, Cody Asche hit his first home run and the Philadelphia Phillies routed the Chicago Cubs 12-1.

UNDATED (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have announced a new two-year deal with second baseman Chase Utley believed to be worth $27 million. Utley was in the final season of a seven-year, $85 million contract.

The 34-year-old is playing in his 11th season in the majors, all with the Phillies. The five-time All-Star began the day batting .277 with 15 home runs and 43 RBIs.

In other baseball news:

— Second baseman Rickie Weeks took a flight back to Milwaukee before the Brewers lost 4-1 at San Francisco. He was scheduled to get an MRI exam on his injured left hamstring, which will land him on the 15-day disabled list. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke (REHN'-ih-kee) said the team will recall Scooter Gennett from Triple-A Nashville.

— Utility player Mark Reynolds has been designated for assignment by Cleveland. He was signed in the offseason to a one-year, $6 million contract and for the first month helped carry the team with 13 home runs in April and May. Since then he hasn't done much at the plate but strikeout. He's batting just .215 with 15 homers and 48 RBIs, and the free-swinger has struck out 123 times. He's only hit two homers since May and none since June 28. The Indians have 10 days to trade, release or place Reynolds on waivers. He told the Indians he would not accept a minor league assignment.
