DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings are up two games to one against the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL's Western Conference semifinals.

Gustav Nyquist and Drew Miller scored 31 seconds apart in the second period before the Wings completed a 3-1 win over the Hawks. The game was scoreless until Nyquist beat Corey Crawford at 7:49 of the middle stanza.

Patrick Kane got the Blackhawks within a goal at 4:35 of the final period, but Pavel Datsyuk (DAHT'-sook) restored Detroit's two-goal lead just over two minutes later after the Hawks had a game-tying goal waved off because of a crease violation.

Jimmy Howard made 15 of his 38 saves in the final period for the Red Wings, who host Game 4 on Thursday.
