Public Lands Package Passes House
Wyoming Representative Cynthia Lummis joined a majority of her colleagues to pass the Public Access and Lands Improvement Act by a vote of 220-194. As part of the package, Lummis’ amendment to the grazing provisions passed by voice vote. The measure also included Lummis’ River Paddling Protection Act.
She offered an amendment to the bill at the request of the Wyoming Public Lands Council and local producers. The amendment allows federal land agencies to consolidate environmental reviews for greater efficiency, clarifies the current grazing definition, and ensures a timely response for temporary trailing and crossing applications. Lummis said it also conforms the bill to the Senate changes of the Federal Lands Policy and Management Act.
The grazing bill, as amended, stands to help our many federal land ranchers in Wyoming.
