New High School-Ask the City
Why didn't the city, the school board, or the builders of the new high school ask for input from teachers, students, parents or the public before building a $10 million that some people are disappointed in?
"Schools in the state of Wyoming are constructed under the direction of the State School Facilities Commission with input from local school districts well in advance of construction. The City of Laramie does not have jurisdictional authority for construction of schools nor oversight of the school district. Management of the Albany County School District is through an elected school board and the appropriate appointed administrators.
The new high school project was well publicized within the community, and the Albany County School District held many meetings during the planning process inviting input from the public as the building was being designed. Your questions are best directed to the Albany County School District, both the elected board and the appointed administration, as the responsible entity for this project."
