Mother and Son Charged in Laramie Burglary

Two people, a mother and son, are facing charges in Tuesday’s burglary of a Laramie Business.

According to official court papers 19-year-old Robert Daniel McIntyre, of Laramie, is facing charges of Burglary from the early-morning burglary of Money Lenders, on the 1600 block of North 4th Street. McIntyre’s mother, Catherine Mendez-Rayos, also of Laramie, faces charges of accessory-before-the-fact in the burglary. Both the burglary and accessory charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The court papers outline that Mendez-Rayos, an employee of Money Lenders, had provided McIntyre access codes that could allow him to gain access to the buisness and its money after hours. An arrest affidavit says that the amount of money allegedly taken was just over $10,000 in mixed bills and change.

Both McIntyre and Mendez-Rayos made their intial circut court appearances in Laramie Thursday morning, wearing shackles and gray and white jail jumpsuits. McIntyre’s remains in custody on a $10,000 cash bond. Mendez-Rayos was released on a $10,000 signature bond, meaning she will owe that amount should she be found in violation of the terms set in the bond.

Part of the terms of bond for both suspects is that they have no contact with eachother. McIntyre said that he wasn’t currently living with his mother.

Both suspects will next face a preliminary appearance where it will be determined if either or both of them will be bound over to district court.
