Last weekend, an Emirates Airbus 380 was struck by a jagged bolt of lightning as it began its descent into London's Heathrow Airport. Luckily, none of the passengers aboard were harmed, and the plane made it safely to the ground.

Believe it or not, airplanes generally sustain a couple of lightning strikes per year, and are designed so that their bodies act as a conductor, allowing the lightning to pass through without causing any damage.

What made this particular lightning strike different was that it was caught on video. Read on to see this latest jolt from Mother Nature plus other crazy lighting attacks from the past. If you don't like flying, I'm actually going to suggest that you maybe don't watch the plane video, but there are others for you to enjoy.

The National Weather Service recommends you head indoors when the thunder roars as an average of 58 people are killed by lightning each year in the United States. To date, there have been 0 deaths in 2011. So if nothing else, we'll let these videos speak to the power of mother nature and hope they'll scare you enough to keep you safe!
