A lawyer, representing Dennis Poitra Jr. made the case today that Poitra was on antipsychotic medication when he participated in a 2009 home invasion killing.

Attorney Elisabeth Trefonas asked the Wyoming Supreme Court earlier today to overturn Poitra's conviction, citing that he had taken an antipsychotic medication shortly before the murder and was unable to control his behavior.

A lawyer with the Wyoming Attorney General's Office argued that Poitra received a fair trial and that his sentence ought to be held.

Poitra and two others (all teenagers at the time) are serving life sentences for the slaying of Sheridan businessman Robert Ernst.

The Supreme Court will make a written decision at a later date.
