The Laramie Plainsmen overcame a 13-20 halftime deficit to beat the Kelly Walsh Trojans in overtime, 45-39, on Saturday in Laramie.

A surge in the third quarter gave Laramie a 28-27 lead going in the fourth quarter, but a last second shot by Tate Hilgenkamp rolled off the rim and the game had to be settle in overtime where a consistent effort at the free throw line clinched the win in the home opener for the Plainsmen.

Laramie (2-2) was led by Sam Feldman with 12 points and 4 boards, followed by Hilgenkamp with 9 points, Abel Casas with 8 points and Sam Hainline with 6 points and 5 boards. The Plainsmen shot 83 percent (15-18) from the free throw line while the Trojans shot just 53 percent (8-15) from the charity stripe.

Kelly Walsh (1-3) committed just four turnovers in the first half, but then had 10 through the second half and overtime. The Trojans were led by Turner Hiatt with 12 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Terry Jackson with 9 pts and 8 boards.

The next action for Laramie will be at a tournament in Greeley, Colo. The Plainsmen will play one game Thursday, Dec. 15th thru Saturday, Dec. 17th.
