Sixteen Laramie High School boys and girls soccer players earned accolades for their efforts during the soccer season this spring.  The Wyoming Coaches Association has released their All-State and All-Conference lists for 2011.

The 4A runner-up Plainsmen had nine players earn honors.  Laramie's boys led the big-school class with six All-State players.  Senior midfielder Jimi Gomez earned his third consecutive first-team all-state honor.  He had three goals and six assists this season.  For the second straight year, Senior forward Dillon Barbour and Junior forward Vitor Nazareth are first-team all-state.  Barbour led LHS with 10 goals and added two assists.  Nazareth scored five goals and also had two assists.  Other first-team all-state performers included Senior Andrew Johnson, who had nine goals and six assists, as well as Senior defender Ian Muller and Senior keeper Andrew Amen.

Senior midfielder Brock Mosier (2 goals, 4 assists) and Senior defender Arlo Stansbury joined the six above as first-team all-conference honorees in the 4A East.  Senior Alex Young earned a second-team all-conference.

Head Coach Andy Pannell was named the 4A East Conference Coach of the Year.  The Plainsmen went 8-0-2 in a tough league.

Six Lady Plainsmen soccer players earned all-state and all-conference honors this season.

Senior defender Haley Ahrenholtz received first-team all-state and all-conference honors for a third consecutive year.  She's actually a four-time all-conference performer in the back line.

Joining Ahrenholtz on the all-state list is Freshmen midfielder Haley Moon, who recorded seven goals and 10 assists this season.

Junior defender Josie Bowdish (1 goal, 1 assist) and Junior forward Cassidy Aguilar were also named first-team all-conference.  Aguilar led the Lady Plainsmen with 12 goals this season.  She also contributed two assists.

The Laramie girls also had three second-team all-conference honorees.  Junior keeper Rachel Rettinger, Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Martinez and Freshmen midfielder Jacqui Pulley (4 goals,3 assists).

Congrats to all the LHS student-athletes for receiving recognition during the 2011 season on the pitch.
