It was mixed results for the two Laramie High School basketball teams on day one of the 2014 Bill Strannigan East-West Challenge in Riverton Thursday. The Laramie Lady Plainsmen rallied for a 45-36 overtime win against the Evanston Lady Red Devils, while the Plainsmen got blow-out, 59-30, by the Evanston boys.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen (5-4) held eight point lead early in the second half, but 10 turnovers contributed to a 15-0 run by Evanston, which gave the Lady Red Devils a 30-25 lead early in the fourth quarter. Laramie rallied after Jacqui Pulley returned from injury and tied the game at 32 to force overtime. A 3-point play by Joey Harris at the start of the extra period gave LHS the lead back and for good. Pulley and Harris accounted for all 13 Laramie points in OT, as the Lady Plainsmen pulled away for the 9-point win.

Pulley led the way with 14 points, while Harris added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Laramie Plainsmen (2-7) struggled all game long, as they shot only 19 percent from the field and were thumped by the Red Devils, 59-30. LHS failed to score in double figures in any of the four quarters. They also had 18 turnovers.

Drew Burman led the Plainsmen with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
