For only the second time this season, the Laramie Plainsmen will wrestle on the home mat tonight against conference foe Cheyenne Central. The varsity match is set for a 6 p.m. start at Laramie High School.

Laramie hasn't competed in 11 days, going back to their 11th place finish at the Shane Shatto Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Douglas.

The Plainsmen are 4-8 in duals during the 2013-14 season. This will be only their second 4A East Conference dual. They lost at Cheyenne East 67-10 on December 17.

Laramie wrestling head coach Mikah Kadera said, "We've definitely progressed as a team. As a dual team we'll still struggle giving up a few weight classes, but individually everyone has improved so much. It'll be good to get back into some conference duals and see where we're at in the conference."

Coach Kadera said they'd probably give up forfeits at 113, 126 and heavyweight for tonight's dual.

Cheyenne Central is led by defending state champion Bryce Meredith, who won the 4A title at 132 pounds last year. He's wrestling at 138 this season. Central is ranked 6th in 4A in the most recent rankings from WyoWrestling.com.

Kadera adds, "We'll have a couple of tough matches right in those middle weights where they have some pretty studly kids. Then some other matches could go either way, and hopefully our kids are peaking and wrestling well in those matches."

All the action will be in the main gym at LHS. The JV begins at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow around 6-to-6:30 p.m.

After tonight's dual, the Plainsmen head to Chadron, Nebraska for tournament action this weekend.
