Geology Museum- New Hours

The University of Wyoming’s Geological Museum is now open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and is closed Sundays.

The museum reopened in January, following an extensive remodeling project that provides visitors with a more expansive, open and polished view of both old and new displays, including the popular 75-foot Apatosaurus skeleton that dominates the museum's exhibit hall. Another highlight is "Big Al," a display of the most complete Allosaurus fossil ever found.

The renovation project retained the museum’s historic charm while addressing necessary infrastructure upgrades. Most noticeable are increased space and reorganization of the exhibits.

The remodeling is the first phase of a project to make the museum a focal point for student and faculty research, while giving the public an appreciation of Wyoming’s geologic history and mineral resources.

The museum’s collection of fluorescent minerals has a new, impressive home in an exhibit area that focuses on minerals.
