NORMAN, Okla. (Aug. 1, 2013) – For the third-consecutive season, the University of Wyoming men’s golf team has been named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the organization announced Wednesday.

“To consistently be one of the top academic programs, not only in the Mountain West, but at the NCAA Division I level, is something we are very proud of,” Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen said. “I give all the credit to our student-athletes. Every school and every program has different ways of doing things, but we’ve set a standard that we want to excel in the classroom as well.”

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a program must post a combined grade-point average above 3.0 during the academic year. The Cowboys were one of 79 teams honored from NCAA Division I and one of just two schools from the Mountain West in 2012-13.

“I’m very appreciative of our faculty and administration, especially the Academic Support office,” Jensen said. “For all the travel and competition we do in golf, our student-athletes receive tremendous support and guidance from them. It certainly is a team approach to helping them succeed academically.”
