A 57-year-old Cheyenne man accused of killing his 21-year-old girlfriend has been arrested.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says Emigdio Lara was picked up by the Wyoming Highway Patrol around 1:30 p.m. this (Wednesday) afternoon.

"A trooper observed him hitchhiking on Interstate 80 just east of Cheyenne," said Malatesta. "Lara tried to provide false I.D. several times, but the trooper was able to identify him."

Lara was being sought for the murder of Victoria Juarez, whose body was found in the basement of Anong's restaurant on June 26.

He was arrested on a warrant for second-degree murder, but has yet to be formally charged.
