After knocking off some rust with the first times and marks of the season, some of which were pretty good, indoor track athletes prepare for their second weekend.

All three of this week’s competitions are on Friday. The biggest invitational for Wyoming teams will be in Gillette.  Laramie also will host a meet, while five teams are headed to Utah for competition. Two schools are splitting their squad and going to two meets.

2020 Gillette Indoor Track Invitational, 10:30 a.m. (at Campbell County Rec Center)Big Horn, Campbell County, Cheyenne East, Cody, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, Lovell, Natrona County, Riverton, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Worland

Hailey Jones competing for Thunder Basin won the 800 and 1600-meters.

Grace Shaffer of Cody won the 55-meter hurdles and the pole vault.

Breonna Beckley of Natrona County won the 200-meters and the long jump title.

Brock Bomar of Sheridan was the lone male double-event winner. He captured the men's 55-meter dash and 200-meters.

No team scores were kept.

Taylor Gardner of Laramie won three individual events. She captured the 55-meter hurdles, the triple jump, and the long jump.

Caydince Groth of Cheyenne South won the 55-meter dash and 200-meters.

Sydney Thorvaldson of Rawlins won the 400 and 800-meter races.

Laramie's Aidan Morris won the lone male to win multiple events individually. He took first place in the 55-meter hurdles, the pole vault, and the long jump.

2020 UHSTCA Indoor Invitational, 4 p.m. (at Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, UT)Evanston, Green River, Mountain View, Rock Springs, Star Valley

Wyoming went 1-2-3 in the women's triple jump. Star Valley's Isabella Romasko won it, followed by Favour Wanjoku of Rock Springs, and then Anna Harber of Star Valley.

Elena Jensen of Mountain View took 4th place in the 1600-meters and 6th in the 3200-meters.

Wanjoku of Rock Springs added a 5th place in the long jump.

Star Valley's Peter Visser won the 3200-meters and was runner-up in the 1600-meters.

Seth Hymas from Rock Springs took 4th in the long jump.

Wyoming boys went 1-6 and 8th in the triple jump. The victory belonged to Aaron Stewart of Star Valley. He was followed by Colter Sweeney of Mountain View and Teagan Bowers of Star Valley.

The Star Valley boys were second and the Star Valley girls took third in the team race.

The schedule for next week is very busy with competitions in Gillette, Casper, Cheyenne, and out-of-state in Colorado and Utah.
