Hunting and fishing have been a part of Wyoming life since people have been living on the land. Although they may not be a necessity any more, there are still many hunters and anglers in southeast Wyoming because it is such a great location for both.

Every athlete has the day when they have to toss in the towel. Fortunately, there are city-leagues which can help hold that day at bay for many, many years. Here in Laramie there is a pretty wide range of sports in which adults can try to relive the glory of their former days, or for some get a taste of victory for the first time.

If you’ve been around Laramie this summer you’ve probably noticed more than just a couple of construction projects. Public works Director Rich Elliot said in a press release that a total of 33 projects will have been completed by the end of the 2012 construction season, compared to what used to be an average of 10-15 projects during any given construction season.

With University of Wyoming classes starting up soon, students are beginning to come back to Laramie. The beginning of classes marks more people in town for events, just to visit and to reside until summer comes. More activities occur during the school year, and let’s not forget that fall sports are on their way.

The federal government plans to announce an end to protections for wolves in Wyoming later this month.

While other schools around the state will be welcoming students next week, schools in Albany County are not going to get going until after Labor Day. This means summer break will actually have gone from Memorial Day to Labor Day this summer.

The primary election is just one week away in Albany County. Of course, this election will narrow down the list of candidates and finalize the ballot for the general election in November.

It’s approaching mid-August, which means school is just around the corner and the end of summer break. Some of you have already taken a vacation or two, while others are trying to get away at the last minute. For some, they may be asking, what break?
