It's time to take the pitch! The 2014 season begins today for the Wyoming Cowgirls.

Four standout performers from Laramie High School signed their national letter of intent (NLI) Wednesday morning to pursue their dream of competing at the collegiate level.

The University of Wyoming women's soccer team gave San Diego State its first Mountain West regular-season loss since Oct. 16, 2011, with a 2-1 victory at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex Sunday afternoon. In what was an up-tempo, physically tough 90 minutes, junior midfielder Loren Mahoney scored her first two goals of the season for the Cowgirls.

After suffering a hard fought loss to No. 14 Portland on Friday night, the University of Wyoming women's soccer team bounced back in its Mountain West Conference opener with a 3-0 victory over Border War rival Colorado State on Sunday in Fort Collins, Colo. The Cowgirl defense dominated the match from start to finish, limiting the Rams to one shot each period.

In what was another close game for both squads, the University of Wyoming women's soccer team fell to Northern Colorado 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. For the first time since 2010, the Front Range Derby trophy will head back to Greeley, Colo.

The University of Wyoming women's soccer team will continue play at home this week as the Cowgirls take on Northern Colorado at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Idaho State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Live stats and video for both matches will be available on GoWYO.com.

The University of Wyoming women's soccer team outshot New Mexico State 14-6, including 9-5 in shots on goal, but the Aggies scored the lone goal of the game for a 1-0 victory over the Cowgirls on Sunday afternoon at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.

The University of Wyoming women's soccer match against Weber State scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13 has been moved to UW's Indoor Practice Facility, due to weather. The scheduled start time at 4 p.m. will remain the same.
