Mayor Levar Stoney ordered the removal of all city-owned Confederate statues on July 1.

The city and its mayor voted unanimously hours before to remove it.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday the city supports removal of the statue.

The board has received a donation from a private donor to complete the project.

Most national parks and sites will be open, but with limited services.
