A 36-year-old Cheyenne man being sought on four warrants is now behind bars.

The National Council on Identity Theft Protection reports about one-third of Americans will be victimized by some type of identity theft, and according to a recent study, this is Wyoming's rank in the least at-risk states.

Cheyenne police are warning the public about a recent rise in identity theft cases in which thieves are opening Sprint accounts in the victim's names.

Two of the defendants were from outside Wyoming.

Each crime is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
