Junior quarterback Brett Smith notched a record-breaking day while leading the University of Wyoming football team to a 42-10 victory over Idaho on Saturday afternoon in front of 22,030 fans at War Memorial Stadium. Smith guided the Cowboys (1-1) to 42 unanswered points in the second and third quarters, while the UW defense held the Vandals (0-2) off the scoreboard until midway through the fourth quarter.

UW shot 50.8 percent from the field and held Idaho to 28.8 percent from the floor.

What a difference one player makes for the Wyoming Cowboys. After missing the last game, Sophomore Quarterback Brett Smith was back in the line-up Saturday at Idaho. He threw a career-high five touchdown passes, including the game-winning 25-yard strike to Jalen Claiborne, as the Pokes won their first game of the 2012 season, 40-to-37, in overtime over the Vandals in Moscow, Idaho.
