A crash involving hazardous materials has forced the closure of Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Laramie, the Wyoming Department of Transportation says.

Cheyenne Fire Rescue saw a 10% decrease in calls for service in 2021 compared to 2020, according to an annual report released Wednesday.

Snow, combined with sustained winds of more than 30 mph and gusts around 60 mph, hampered the cleanup process.

As of 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, the Wyoming Department of Transportation estimated a re-opening of westbound lanes between 8 and 10 p.m.

An Emergency disaster drill and exercise will be held at the U.P. railroad yard on Wednesday.
