Bernhardt is expected to face questions about any potential conflicts of interest over his past lobbying for oil and gas, corporate agriculture and others.

Bernhardt has been nominated to replace former Secretary Ryan Zinke, who resigned in January.

The funding would go to 42 parks in 29 states.

The new landmarks are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
