Chimney fires are a hazard especially when creosote builds up in chimneys that are heavily used and/or haven't been cleaned for a while.

The blaze was eventually traced to a bathroom fan.

The occupants of the home were given temporary housing by the Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Cheyenne Fire Rescue saw a 10% decrease in calls for service in 2021 compared to 2020, according to an annual report released Wednesday.

They had to cut a hole in the ceiling to reach the fire, and the home was damaged by the fire as well as water and extinguishment activities.

The people in the home were alerted by a working smoke detector and were able to get themselves and their animals out of the building without injury.

Cheyenne police were able to talk a suicidal man out of jumping off of a bridge and hanging himself Saturday morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the release.
