After years of court battles, federal negotiations and legislative challenges, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department is now preparing to take over management of the wolf population in the state.

One week ago the 61st Wyoming Legislature completed their budget session after a very productive few weeks. That productivity did not go unnoticed by Governor Matt Mead who complimented the good sense of the Legislature to continue to strengthen and grow the state of Wyoming, even during a national recession, and lowered natural gas prices.

One of the things many people love about Laramie is that is still has a somewhat wild nature. With a rough history and tough weather, there’s something about the Gem City that simply can’t be tamed. The fact is that in a town populated by over 30,000 people, wildlife are close neighbors, and it’s not always a harmonious relationship.

The president’s budget is a week late and a trillion dollars short, says Wyoming’s representative.

Wyoming’s representative took exception to the lofty sounding state of the union address by President Obama, saying the president’s ideas haven’t helped but, in fact, have made things worse.

Saturday, January 21st the Wyoming Stock Growers Association is going on a trip to Denver for the Wyoming Day celebration and rodeo, and the more, the merrier.

Yellowstone National Park, as well as many other national parks and national monuments, will waive entrance fees this weekend to recognize Martin Luther King Day on Monday.
