A stolen dog is back home with his owner after being taken during a car theft outside a Cheyenne grocery store Tuesday night.

She stresses that the City of Riverton requires a current rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian as well as a city dog license.

Animal Control would like to locate the dog for rabies monitoring purposes.

The victim said the bite happened in the 2200 block of Spring Creek in the area of the alley entrance on Friday, according to the LPD.

Richardson said paying restitution, rather than a small fine, would be a more effective deterrent for those who let their pets run loose.

Police hope either the owner of the dogs or someone who has information on the dogs' whereabouts will call the Animal Control Unit at 721-5385 or the non-emergency dispatch line at 721-2526.

Animal Control emphasizes that since victims could be exposed to rabies, all animal bites must be reported immediately.

The division suggests citizens concerned about a nuisance cat or a cat at large may trap the cat themselves and take the cat to the Laramie Animal Shelter. But the division will no longer loan out cat traps.
