Representative Calls For End to Deadlock [AUDIO]

Wyoming’s representative took exception to the lofty sounding state of the union address by President Obama, saying the president’s ideas haven’t helped but, in fact, have made things worse. In a Tuesday release, U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis called on President Obama to work with Congress for bipartisan solutions.

What could get done:

“Let’s cut spending 1 percent per year for the next eight years; that alone will balance the budget. Then there’s the ideas of reforming our entitlement programs in order to save them, because they’re on the path to insolvency now.”

One point of frustration Rep. Lummis noted was that the House sent 30 jobs bills to the Senate, which has been in a bipartisan deadlock for 1,000 days.

Cooperation for country:

“We need to be working together in order to solve these problems for our country. I would call on the president and the Senate to work with us, on a bipartisan basis, to solve these problems for the American people. They expect no less.”
