The 1,000 turbine chokecherry and Sierra Madre proposed wind farm outside Rawlins has been drawing criticism from many locals in that area. Wyoming is known for its wide open spaces and wind. When you put two and two together then it's obvious that Wyoming is a great location to produce wind energy. Wind farms however detract from Wyoming's beautiful landscapes and Rawlins residents are worried that the proposed wind farm may cause more than just a change of scenery.

According to the Rawlins Daily Times, dozens of residents showed up to an open house held Monday evening. Out of those dozens there were several complaints about how the 1,000 wind turbines would affect the scenery, nearby landmarks and hunting in the area.

The Chokecherry and Sierra Madre 1,00 turbine wind farm is being proposed by an affiliate of Denver-based Anschutz Corp. Public comments on the proposal are being accepted by the Bureau of Land Management.
