The Laramie Police Department is asking for information regarding a dog bite that was reported on December 12th.

According to an official release from the Laramie Police, officers responded to a dog bit that was reported at approximately 11:30 PM in the 300 block of North Buchanan street in West Laramie.  Laramie Police say that a female was bitten on the lower leg while unloading her car.  The dog was said to be at large with no owner present.  Witnesses say the dog was black in color and approximately 20 inches tall.  No further description is available and the victim did not notice any collar or tags on the dog.

Laramie Police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of this dog or the owner to contact the Animal Control Unit at 721-5385 or non-emergency dispatch at 721-2526.

In the official Laramie P.D. release, the Animal Control Unit reminds people that animal bites could involve exposure to rabies and that all animal bites must be reported to the Animal Control Unit immediately.

Should you be bitten, it is imperative that victims of try and identify the specific animal and the owner's contact information, if an owner is present.  The Animal Control Unit also suggests getting a picture of the animal with a cellphone is always helpful.
