Prepare For Freezing Nights As Fall Grips Southeast Wyoming
Fall is definitely in the air in southeast Wyoming.
Cheyenne and Laramie are typically seeing overnight low temperatures in the 40s even down into the upper 30s, although 70s and 80s are still common high temperatures.
But at this point, we could see freezing temperatures at any time, according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.
The agency posted the following on its website:
"Did the chilly temperatures today have you thinking about the end of the growing season? Here's a look at some first fall freeze statistics for Laramie, Cheyenne, and Scottsbluff. Laramie and Rawlins on average see their first freeze this week, while Cheyenne and Scottsbluff stay above freezing until near the end of September in a typical year. In warmer falls like last year, these locations can get to mid to late October without freezing! We did observe some patchy freezing temperatures on September 6 already this year, but this was not very widespread. More locations and details can be found at weather.gov/cys/fallfreezestats"
