After over a year in the making, Cheyenne's first Panera Bread restaurant will celebrate their grand opening next month on the corner of Dell Range and Windmill Road.

"April 8 is the day. We are 100 percent opening that day,” store manager Athena Osgood told the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle.

Construction of the restaurant has been delayed several times since the project was announced last year. One primary setback dealt with stormwater drainage on the property, which resulted in permit dispute with the city.

“They chose a challenging site for development, so that had a lot to do with it," Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr said.

Manna Development Group, which owns 135 Panera restaurants around the country, is hosting a hiring fair in Cheyenne this week with the goal of adding 70 full or part-time employees during the next month. Job seekers are encouraged to apply in person at the trailer in front of the building.

After the "soft opening" on April 8th, Panera Bread will hold an official grand opening ceremony on Monday, April 22nd, with giveaways planned for the first 200 customers.
