Aaron Lozano Takes Over Laramie Rangers Legion Baseball [VIDEO]

The Laramie Rangers Legion Baseball program has a new leader as it prepares for the 2019 summer season.

Aaron Lozano, who has been an assistant coach in the program on two different occasions, was hired last November. He takes over for Brandon Ruckman, who stepped down last fall for personal reasons after leading the Rangers for four years.

Lozano brings with him a variety of experience as a baseball coach in 18 of the past 20 years. He has served as an assistant and head coach from youth levels all way up to college since 1999. Lozano was with the University of Wyoming Club baseball team as head coach from 2005-2011. Those teams won three district championships (2008, 2009, 2011) and were National Runner-up in 2011. Lozano coached a First-Team All-America selection in Josh Johnke in 2006. They were 6-5 in Club World Series play.

He’s been an assistant with the Rangers program and the Head Coach of the ‘A’ team twice, in 2005-06 and last year.

Lozano joined host David Settle for an extended visit during the “Laramie Live on KOWB” radio morning show. In the video above, they discussed being around the game, his time with the Rangers program, the interview process, the “State of the Program,” how preseason is going, and more.

The Rangers will have a registration meeting for interested players Monday, Feb. 4 (tonight) at the American Legion Hall at 5th and Ivinson at 7 p.m. Anyone who is interested in playing legion baseball this year should come and visit with Coach Lozano. Free pizza is available for the players.

Laramie will open its 2019 season in Cheyenne April 20 and 21. The first home game is slated for May 8 at Cowboy Field.
