Wyoming’s Josh Adams and Marquelle Dent Sign Pro Deals
Former Wyoming stars Josh Adams and Marquelle Dent are getting a shot to play professional basketball overseas.
Adams is getting his chance in Russia, while Dent heads to Portugal.
Adams announced his professional signing via Instagram on Friday. In that post he said,
“This is a great opportunity and can't wait to continue my career. Everyone has a different path and this is mine. This is the first step for me and I'm so grateful to be going to such a good club. I know they will take me to the next level and better me as a player.”
Adams went on to say, “I will be back to play in the NBA. This is where I need to be right now. Thank you to my family for their support, my agent for this second to none deal and all my teammates, coaches and fans who have helped me get to this point!”
Adams averaged 24.7 points per game last season as a senior, which was third best in the nation. He was named Honorable Mention All-America and MW Player of the Year by the media.
Adams wasn’t selected in the NBA Draft, but did spend time in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Denver Nuggets.
Meanwhile, Dent has signed to play with CAB Madeira in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Her announcement came via Twitter Sunday.
“Very excited & blessed that I'll be playing the game I love in such a beautiful place.”
Dent was a two-time First Team All-MW and All-MW Defensive Team selection as a junior and senior. She was also chosen the MW Preseason Player of the Year before the 2015-16 season.
Dent is the only player in school history with over 1,000 points, 500 assists and 175 steals in a career. During her senior season she averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 assists and two steals per game.
