For the second straight week, the Wyoming Cowboys swept Mountain West Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Red-shirt sophomore QB Josh Allen and red-shirt freshman linebacker Logan Wilson were named recipients Monday.

Allen accounted for a career-high 327 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 52-28 victory last Saturday over Utah State. He threw for a career-best four touchdowns and added a TD run, as well. Allen completed 16-of-26 passes for 261 yards and added nine rushes for 66 yards. Nine of Allen’s passes went for 15 yards or longer. He also had a pair of runs longer than 10 yards, including a season-best 38 yarder in the third quarter. On the next play after the long run, Allen found tight end Jacob Hollister on a 37-yard TD pass that put Wyoming back in control 42-28.

This is the second time this season Josh Allen has been selected the MW Offensive Player of the Week. He won it following his performance in the Cowboys’ victory over Northern Illinois on Sept. 3.

Wilson earned the honor for the first time in his career. He had seven total tackles, five of them solo, a fumble recovery and an interception in the Pokes win over the Aggies. His fumble recovery helped set-up Wyoming’s final TD of the first half. Two plays later UW had a 35-7 lead. Wilson’s interception and 56-yard return set-up the Cowboys final score. Four plays later they were in the end zone for a 52-28 victory.

These are the sixth and seventh MW Player of the Week honors for the Wyoming Cowboys during the 2016 season. This is the third consecutive week UW has received MW Offensive Player of the Week honors. Allen follows Brian Hill and Jacob Hollister in receiving this accolade.
