Wyoming’s track and field teams swept the Powder River Duals against Montana State Saturday in Gillette.

The Cowgirls won 11 of 14 events and rolled to a 92-59 victory. The Cowboys captured eight events and just edged the Bobcats, 74.5-to-72.5.

The Wyoming men won the last event, the 4X400 relay that allowed them to win the meet. Senior Scott Carter led the way, as he won two events. Carter took the long jump title with a personal-best leap of 24-feet 1-inch. He also won the triple jump with a mark of 50-feet, 4 ½ inches.

Other event winners were Tyler Anderson (weight throw), Bryce Ailshie (800 meters), Calil Burnett (60 meters), Ricky Faure (mile) and Jordan Charles (60-meter hurdles).

Wyoming’s women had an easier time thanks to some dominant performances. Audra DeStefano won the 3,000 meters in her hometown to pace the Cowgirls.

Another highlight was freshman Ja’la Henderson took the long jump title with a personal-best mark of 19-feet 9 ½ inches. That is the second best mark in the Mountain West.

Other titles came from Mikalah Skates (60-meter hurdles), Jerayah Davis (60 meters), Ashley Snyder (200 meters), McKenzie Brogan (400 meters), Kim Robertson (800 meters), Sabina Sandberg (high jump), Day Timberman (triple jump) and Emelda Malm-Annan (weight throw).

Swimming and Diving

The Cowboys and Cowgirls both posted victories over UNLV in Las Vegas last Saturday. The Cowgirls did drop the second half of their double dual to Nevada.

The Cowgirls topped the Rebel 222-78, but fell to the Wolfpack, 161-139.

The Cowboy posted a 174-119 victory against UNLV.

Together, the squads won 17 events.

Maria Harutjunjan won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Gabe Rooker did the same for the Cowboys. Another double winner was Emily Ridout, who captured the 50 and 100 freestyle. Ryan Ball also took a pair of titles. He won the 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

Wrestling

The Cowboys split their road duals in the Big 12 conference last weekend.

Wyoming lost 22-15 at South Dakota State last Friday. The Pokes got down 16-4 early and didn’t recover. They suffered threw an injury default at 125 pounds and lost three matches by one point.

UW bounced back with a 27-13 win at North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys got out to a 14-4 lead and added three match wins at the end for the victory.

Bryce Meredith and Tanner Harms both went 2-0 on the weekend. Meredith picked up his 20th win of the season.

The Cowboys are 4-6 overall and 2-4 in Big 12 duals.
