While many people are associated with the Wyoming Territorial Prison and their most famous prisoner, Butch Cassidy, the museum has taken a big step to ensure the history of the prison after it housed criminals is not forgotten. The “Science on the Range” exhibit is now open.

By wandering into the 1910 Horse Barn, visitors can delve into the farming and ranching experiments conducted on the old prison grounds by the University of Wyoming from 1903 to 1989. For 86 years, the Experiment Station not only advanced the farm and stock interests of Wyoming but provided hands-on learning experience for students.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for students ages 12-17. The Wyoming Territorial Prison is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from May to October.
