Some of Wyoming's most scenic areas are no longer accessible to motor vehicle traffic.

Two days before the Christmas Holiday, the Wyoming Department of Transportation closed a 22-mile stretch of Wyoming State Highway 70 between Encampment and Baggs for the 2017-18 winter season.

A 22-mile stretch of US Highway 14A west of Burgess Junction northwest of Sheridan, closed back on December 1st, and a 13-mile section of Wyoming State Highway 130 west of Centennial closed during the weekend before Thanksgiving.

WYDOT says it's not worth the effort to keep those roads cleared and open, because there is too much snow and too little traffic around this time of year.

US Highway 212 over the Beartooth Pass closed back in middle October.

All of the seasonal roads normally reopen around Memorial Day, in time for the summer traveling season.
