A 20-year-old Wyoming man is dead after crashing his pickup into a sugar beet truck southwest of Ralston.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the collision happened shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The Patrol says Ray Carpenter was headed east on U.S. Highway 14A when he came up behind the truck, which was preparing to turn south into the beet dump, and rear-ended it.

Carpenter, who was not wearing his seat belt, died at the scene. The driver of the sugar beet truck was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation.
