Wyoming Legion Baseball Coaches have formatted the 2016 season, which has a few changes from the 2015 season, and 1 team is attempting to return, after being absent for several years.

AA:

There will be 8 teams this season as the Evanston Outlaws have opted up.

In 2015 there were 7 teams, and then the 'A' State Champ got invited to the AA State Tournament.

There was a risk in 2015, that Gillette (a AA team) would have ended up going to the 'A' Northwest Regional Tournament, and that didn't sit too well with the hosts in Utah.

So to avoid any potential chaos in 2016, there will be 8 teams.

Evanston will be placed in the West with Rock Springs, Jackson and Casper.

The East stays the same...Cheyenne Post 6, Laramie, Gillette, and Sheridan.

As in the past, AA East teams will play their conference games, the week before the state tournament.

Conference games will be a single 9-inning game, maximum of 3 conference games.

Teams are free to schedule whichever teams they can before then.

AA West teams will play each other 3 times all at the same place.

It will be 1 9-inning game on the first day, then a 7-inning double-header the next day.

A:

There will be 10 teams, unlike 12 last year.

Evanston moves up to AA, and Gillette has said they will not have an A team.

Torrington will not have a team for 2016.

It was announced at the winter meeting, that Worland will return and play Legion baseball in 2016.

With 10 teams, coaches decided that instead of quadrants, there will be a North and South District.

Each team within the district will play home and away double-headers vs. the other teams in their districts.

North: Cody Cubs, Powell Pioneers, Lovell Mustangs, Riverton Raiders, Worland

South: Green River Knights, Rawlins Generals, Cheyenne Hawks, Wheatland Lobos, Douglas Cats.

With the changes to AA, the A State Champ will not compete at the AA State Tournament.

Both AA and A state tournaments will run during the same week.

Post-Season:

B State Tournament: July 19-23 at Casper

A-League District Tournaments: July 21-23. North at Cody. South at Wheatland.

A-League State Tournament: July 27-31 at Douglas

A-League Northwest Regional Tournament: August 4-8 at Laurel, MT. 2 Wyoming teams get to represent.

AA State Tournament: July 26-30 at Jackson

AA Northwest Regional Tournament: August 3-7 at Cheyenne

Wyoming is scheduled to host the 'A' League Northwest Regional Tournament in 2019.

Discussions are underway as to where it would be held.
